It always seemed that the perfect souvenir from Antarctica would be a snowglobe. The station store here at McMurdo Station is jam-packed with bumper stickers and t-shirts and baseball caps and stuffed penguins, along with soap, shampoo, cold medicine, and snacks, but nary a snowglobe in sight. I’ve decided to take matters into my own hands. I found a source for the domes and bases, and have used plastic sheeting and paint markers to conjure up penguins and pisten bullies (but one of a fleet of bizarre antarctic vehicles) and people in parkas. 

The following is one I made by special request for a friend enamored with flags:
